Overview

Located in the heart of Las Cruces on S Telshor Blvd, Taqueria El Jalisciense brings a genuine taste of Jalisco to the Southwest. This family-owned restaurant greets visitors with a warm, inviting atmosphere and a spotless, comfortable dining space that reflects pride in both the food and the experience.

Taqueria El Jalisciense shines through its authentic Mexican cuisine, with an emphasis on traditional Jalisco specialties. The star dish is undoubtedly the Al Pastor tacos, served fresh off the traditional trompo. The perfectly seasoned pork, paired with a pineapple salsa and fresh cilantro and onions, creates a balance of flavors that is hard to match locally. Alongside, the Quesa-Birria offers a delightful twist with its crispy tortillas filled with melted cheese and tender birria, accompanied by a rich consommé that enhances every bite.

The menu caters to a broad audience—from families enjoying classic cheeseburgers and kid-friendly meals to taco aficionados eager to explore specialties like Tacos de Lengua or the hearty Birria beef soup. Complementing the savory dishes, Taqueria El Jalisciense’s aguas frescas stand out, offering refreshing options such as horchata, jamaica, and melon, perfect for balancing the bold spices.

Beyond the food, the service here is consistently praised for its friendliness and attentiveness. The attentive staff ensures every visit feels personal and welcoming, which is increasingly rare. The freshly made chips paired with an assortment of house salsas—ranging from a vibrant tomatillo verde to a robust red salsa—set a high bar for Mexican dining in this region.

Ideal for those seeking authentic Jalisco flavors in a clean, family-oriented environment, Taqueria El Jalisciense is carving out a well-deserved place on the Las Cruces culinary map. Whether you’re stopping by for a casual meal or craving a traditional Mexican feast, this spot delivers quality and tradition with every dish.

First time here and it was a beautiful clean place. The tacos were delicious and the staff was friendly. You don’t get customer service like that anymore. The pricing was great as well for the food. The food was good as well as the agua fresca. Definitely, need to stop by and try the food.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5-Star Taquería El Jalisciense is absolutely worth checking out. The complimentary chips and salsa are freshly made, a bright tomatillo salsa verde and a bold, traditional red salsa that both hit perfectly. I ordered four Al Pastor tacos, and they were outstanding. The meat is cooked the right way, on a traditional trompo, and served with pineapple salsa, cilantro, and onions for that authentic flavor you don’t find everywhere. My girlfriend had the Quesa-Birria, and it was phenomenal. Perfectly crisped corn tortillas packed with melted cheese and tender birria, served with rich consommé on the side. If you haven’t tried this spot yet, you’re missing out. They’re new, but they’re doing everything right, quality ingredients, authentic flavor, and solid service. Highly recommend.

The food here is excellent, and the service matches! With your tacos, they bring you an array of toppings to add: salsas, cilantro, limes, pineapple , etc…. I highly recommend the Al Pastor Trompo. It’s the only place in town with it cooked this way! They also have lots of yummy desserts to choose from.

Great new restaurant behind the hotel Encanto. The food is very good and authentic to the family's Jalisco origins. I had the Gringas al Pastor and my wife had the Papa Jalisco, both of which were very good! The chips they provide as a starter had nice salsas and chopped pineapple. The service is very friendly and they said they would also offer Torta Ahogado in the future.

This was our first time at El Jalisciense and our experience was superb. The food was amazing and the service was great and exceeded our expectations. I had tacos de tripa and they were perfect. It was the first time in 16 yrs here in Las Cruces that I enjoyed tripitas cooked to my liking. I also asked if they had salsa de Chile de Arbol which they didn't but they went out of their way and made some especially for me. This gesture speaks volumes. My husband had birria tacos with horchata and he was very pleased with his food as well. The prices are accessible and they are not stingy with the serving size. We will be returning and I think they have become our #1 spot in Las Cruces. If you have not gone to this restaurant, you are missing out.

Picked up Al Pastor and Adobada today. Adobada was 10/10. Plenty of onions, cilantro, salsa, limes, and pineapple served on the side. One of the best taco shops in Las Cruces.

Even though this restaurant is fairly new, they have a lot of potential. Being the only spot in town that has a trompo does give you a lot of high expectations and they sure do live up to them. Food is phenomenal, owner said they strive to keep taste and recipes as authentic as possible. Customer service was great, ambient was welcoming and prices were right around what you find in any other mexican dine in spot in town. Great place, great people and huge room to grow, highly recommended!
